Located
in in the Guadalupe Mountains in southeastern New Mexico.
The primary attraction of the park for most visitors is the
show cave, Carlsbad Caverns, where visitors can hike in or
take the elevator directly to the Underground Lunchroom some
750 feet (230 m) below.

Zozobra
("Old Man Gloom") is the name of a giant puppet which is
built and burned every autumn during Fiestas de Santa Fe in
Santa Fe, New Mexico, usually during the second week of
September.

real experience in contrast, visit the Ice Cave and Bandera
Volcano, "The Land of Fire and Ice." Situated on the
Continental Divide you walk through the twisted, old-growth
Juniper, Fir and Ponderosa Pine trees, over the ancient lava
trail to the Ice Cave. Here the natural layers of ice
glisten blue-green in the reflected rays of sunlight.
Another trail winds around the side of the Bandera Volcano
to view one of the best examples of a volcanic eruption in
the country. Located in the heart of El Malpais, the
historic Ice Cave Trading Post displays ancient artifacts as

Bandelier
has a long human history and links to the modern Pueblos.
Traditions which began in the distant past are still
practiced today. At Bandelier, evidence of the Ancestral
Pueblo people can be found in the dwellings, artifacts, and
continuing culture of the modern pueblos.
Golden,
now a ghost town on the 'Turquoise Trail' between
Albuquerque and Santa Fe, was the site of the first gold
rush west of the Mississippi. Leroy Gonzales is Golden's de
facto "mayor" and host/tour guide at the San Francisco

synthesis of Spanish Baroque architecture with Native
American building practices resulted in a fascinating and
inspiring tribute to two cultures creating a spiritual life

fall event, Stew & Brew is just one of the many functions at
Los Poblanos Inn and Cultural Center that is open to the
public throughout the year.
The
Norman & Vi Petty Rock & Roll Museum honors Norman and Vi
Petty and the artists who were responsible for "The Clovis
Sound.". A jukebox plays songs from the 50s and reminds us
that Rock 'n' Roll is here to stay. The museum recreates a
working recording studio from the 1950s and displays
artifacts from the studios including the original mixing
board used by Norman Petty to record Buddy Holly and the
Crickets. A visit will take you back to the grand days of
